VH1 takes the next step in romanticizing teen pregnancy with a casting call for a new reality series featuring mom and daughters who are pregnant at the same time. With the popularity of shows like, MTV’s “Teen Mom” and “16 and Pregnant,” it is no wonder the media has become obsessed with this “phenomenon.” Although the public is drawn to these shows, there is a lot of risk in what message is being communicated to younger viewers. On one hand, these girls endure great hardships and endless drama that may keep many girls from desiring this life; but, it also sends the message that becoming pregnant as a teenager can lead to stardom. More positive role models and programming that send one clear message to viewers would fare better for society, but not necessarily for TV ratings- but TV is just a business, right?
