Sex Drive Solution #1: The Female Orgasm

I am willing to bet that very few women are aware that extensive research has been done on the female orgasm, and that research, while not mainstream, has determined that there are at least seven different types of orgasm. Annie Sprinkle, a sex expert, classifies each as follows:

  • Dream-gasms – orgasms that occur during sleep
  • Microgasms – orgasms that occur without physical stimulation
  • Vaginal Orgasms – this includes G-spot orgasms
  • Breath/Energy Orgasms – orgasms that occur with breathing and meditation to move around sexual energy
  • Clitoral Orgasms – any orgasm that occurs due to clitoral stimulation
  • Megagasm – any mind-blowing orgasm, that could be considered a “mystical” experience

This model brings definition to the wide-range of experiences surrounding the female orgasm. Women may experience any one of these or a combination of two or more. Unlike men, a woman’s orgasm is a complex experience. Only about 30 percent of women achieve orgasm without clitoral stimulation. Of course, researchers have learned that the clitoris extends into the vagina, meaning that there really may not be much distinction between a vaginal and clitoral orgasm.

Although good sex definitely does not require an orgasm, it is always nice to have one. A woman can increase her potential for an orgasm during intercourse by propping her hips on a pillow so that her partner’s pelvis will press against her clitoris with each thrust.
